Product Description Men's classic suede leather boot Take a hint from WWII's British soldiers, who were apparently quite fashionable, because the Clarks Desert Boot was inspired by them. A durable yet flexible authentic plantation crepe sole creates an extra comfortable platform on which the foot sits, while a durable suede leather upper is made to last. Discreet lacing crosses high on the vamp, and thick stitching around the sole adds extra texture. Padded footbed. Leather upper. Crepe outsole. A Clarks original. Men's shoe. Imported.
Product Description An international cult classic, the Desert Boot was inspired by the crepe-soled boots worn by British officers in World War II. Soft, supple suede full grain leather uppers and a genuine plantation crepe outsole deliver all-day comfort. Timeless styling has remained unchanged for fifty years. About Clarks Originals Consumer interest in Clarks Originals, a collection of authentic Clarks classics introduced over the last 50 years, is building into a frenzy. Never advertised in the United States, this resurgence continues to gain momentum through word-of-mouth and the increasing appeal of authentic and timeless classics. not as good... August 28, 2010 Hobbie 16 (CAMBRIDGE, MA United States) ...as another pair that I bought somewhere else last year. The pair I just got is made in Vietnam (older pair does not say) and its leather is much stiffer, even keeping into account that they are new. I believe that the shape is also somewhat different (more difficult to inert the foot in it). But I am not sure of this. What I am sure of, however, is that I would end up not wearing them. I doubt that the leather would soften enough to make them comfortable. I am going to return them.
The best shoe purchase in a while. August 22, 2010 CHill58008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The leather of the beeswax version must be condition before wearing with mink oil or the like otherwise every scratch shows up. Other than that I would describe these shoes as perfect. They are more comfortable than any pair of vintage sneaker I own, but as other reviewers have pointed out they are more comfortable for those with narrower feet as I have. They are an amazing blend of timeless and clean design with a ruggedness in style, as if they will get you into the wilderness; take you off the grid and civilize the place for you once you are there. They are very casual but can be dressed up a little with the right pants. I am ordering additional pairs in other colors.
My second pair!!! August 20, 2010 Rick 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the desert boot. They are classic, comfortable, and functional. I've worn them with jeans all the way up to chinos and a jacket. I also own the Clarks DB's in suede. I love them but I picked up the Beeswax for wetter weather. Size them down just a bit because they will stretch but that gives them a custom fit after a little wear.
Excellent boot August 16, 2010 Noah Fichter (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this boot specifically for desert wear in Israel and Jordan. I didn't have much faith but the boot held up beautifully through difficult mountain hikes. The only gripe I have is that the sole is "too soft" causing rocks to be felt through the shoe. However, this boot isn't meant for serious hiking through rocky terrain...so the critique may be unfair. Overall, a great pair of boots.
excellent shoes June 29, 2010 Gunny great shoes..
i'm not happy it made in vietnam, but i still love my beeswax anyway..
i'm so glad that i have it now..
